The creators of Talk Blocks are David M. Brubakken, Ph.D. and Barbara J. Lui, Ph.D. both psychologists who have been working with children, adolescents, and families for more than 25 years.
Dr. Brubakken taught at the University of Wisconsin Medical School and has been a program developer and consultant for children's services in numerous government and private agencies. He has served on many boards including the Committee for Children, where he was a consultant in the development of the award winning film, "Yes, You Can Say No" and "Second Step," an educational curriculum for violence prevention used in schools across the country.
Dr. Lui has taught at the University of Washington and Smith College School for Social Work. Research she has conducted for many public and private institutions include topics such as parenting, minority mental health, and women's health issues. Among her past board activities are Division 45 of the American Psychological Association, The Washington Council for the Prevention of Child Abuse and Neglect, and
the Council for the Prevention of Child Abuse and Neglect.
